Key Responsibilities
- Research in the theoretical astrophysics group of Prof. Walch on the topic of massive star environments over cosmic time within the SFB 1601
- Code development
- Simulations related to massive star formation and feedback, and analysis of simulation data
- Possibly synthetic observations
- Publishing results as first author and co-author in collaboration with team members
- Presenting results at conferences and workshops
- Teaching (4 hours per week) in MSc and BSc physics programs
- Preparation of teaching materials and organization of seminars, tutorials, and exams
- Possible (co-)supervision of BSc and MSc projects
- Support of scientific coordination of SFB 1601
- Engagement in SFB areas of diversity, support of young scientists, sustainability, governance, and public relations
Requirements
Education
PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, Astronomy, or a comparable field
Experience
5 years in climate change impacts, peace and security; 3 years in quantitative research
Required Skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Ideally also German language skills
- Analytical thinking
- Independent, systematic, and constructive work
- Experience in writing research papers and scientific grant proposals
- Teaching experience (ideally)
- Motivation to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment
