Key Responsibilities
- Develop research programs and contribute to proposals for state and federal government and private sector clients
- Expand RTI's environmental analysis capabilities
- Expand RTI's scientific stature, including peer-reviewed manuscripts and presentations at conferences
- Lead and support preparation of project reports
- Mentor and lead a research team and develop RTI staff members
Requirements
Education
Ph.D. in chemistry, biological sciences, or a related discipline
Required Skills
- Experience characterizing organic carbon species and toxicity of Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5) and other emerging environmental contaminants
- Experience with sample preparation techniques involving solvent and solid phase extraction
- Experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques
- Data processing, data interpretation, and reporting
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Understanding of instrumentation and software tools needed to collect, process, and interpret data
- Ability to work independently and with teams
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
