Key Responsibilities

  • Develop research programs and contribute to proposals for state and federal government and private sector clients
  • Expand RTI's environmental analysis capabilities
  • Expand RTI's scientific stature, including peer-reviewed manuscripts and presentations at conferences
  • Lead and support preparation of project reports
  • Mentor and lead a research team and develop RTI staff members

Requirements

Education

Ph.D. in chemistry, biological sciences, or a related discipline

Required Skills

  • Experience characterizing organic carbon species and toxicity of Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5) and other emerging environmental contaminants
  • Experience with sample preparation techniques involving solvent and solid phase extraction
  • Experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques
  • Data processing, data interpretation, and reporting
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Understanding of instrumentation and software tools needed to collect, process, and interpret data
  • Ability to work independently and with teams
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
