Assistant Professor in Fashion Design (Digital and Realisation)

Key Responsibilities
- Undertake teaching duties in relation to courses appropriate to your area of knowledge
- Contribute to existing creative practice of fashion design and development of new 3D digital design practices
- Undertake scholarly activity related to effective delivery of curriculum
- Contribute to design and delivery of curriculum
- Conduct assessment and moderation across the discipline area
- Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives
- Provide constructive and well documented feedback to students
- Contribute to monitoring quality of learning and teaching
- Provide appropriate pastoral support
- Make active contributions to pedagogy of fashion design and 3D digital design education
- Plan and authorize new course material
- Challenge thinking and foster debate among students
- Extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to research and external activities
- Disseminate research activity through publications, conferences, exhibitions, etc.
- Participate in collaborative research with industry and other institutions
- Develop and maintain strong links with industrial partners
- Undertake business development activities and/or consultancy
- Continually update knowledge in field or specialism
- Translate knowledge advances into course of study
- Undertake administrative duties associated with program and course planning
- Promote and market the Programs and School
- Participate in recruitment and induction
- Contribute to income-generating activities
- Liaise externally to benefit subject area and student recruitment
- Represent the School nationally and internationally
- Prepare proposals and applications to external bodies
Requirements
Education
Master's Degree in a Fashion related subject
Experience
Teaching and/or relevant industrial/professional experience demonstrating skills across the entire fashion design process
Required Skills
- Digital pattern cutting and garment construction using CAD/CAM software
- 2D Digital software packages relevant to Fashion and Textile Design
- Research and development
- Pattern cutting
- Garment construction
- Understanding of learning, teaching and assessment at HE level
- Knowledge of contemporary practice across fashion discipline
- Understanding of sustainability and AI/AR/VR challenges in fashion industry
- Understanding of industry needs and graduate employability skills
Required Certifications
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCert/PGCap) or HEA membership/fellowship (or commitment to achieve within 2 years)
