Key Responsibilities
- Provide ecology survey support
- Offer advice on ecological matters
- Conduct on-site supervision related to ecology
- Work alongside lineside and drainage maintenance teams
- Undertake fieldwork
- Produce ecological reports
- Identify constraints to inform work delivery
- Supervise works as an ecological clerk of works
- Implement objectives of National Environment and Sustainability Strategy
- Procure and manage subcontractors
- Evaluate tenders
- Manage ongoing surveys
- Conduct site visits across Western Route
Requirements
Education
Undergraduate degree in Ecology, Zoology, Biological Sciences, or relevant Environmental Sciences
Experience
4 years relevant work experience
Required Skills
- Extended phase 1 habitat surveys
- Project ecologist supervision
- Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) experience
- Understanding of UK and European wildlife legislation
- Ecological survey protocols and methodologies
- Protected species surveys
- Interpersonal skills
- Communication skills
- Organization skills
- Report writing
- Method statement writing
- Full UK driving license
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- GIS competency
Required Certifications
- Protected species survey licenses (desirable)
- PTS qualification (desirable)
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) (desirable)
- Botanical skills to Level 4 FISC - BSBI (desirable)
