Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on state and federal legislation impacting the County
  • Develop and recommend strategies to advance the County's legislative priorities
  • Assist in coordinating the County's lobbying efforts and preparing legislative briefing materials
  • Serve as a liaison between County leadership, elected officials, and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with legislators, government agencies, and community organizations
  • Support Director with development of County's strategic plan
  • Represent the County at legislative hearings, meetings, and conferences as needed
  • Collaborate with Communications staff to develop messaging strategies related to legislative and policy initiatives
  • Provide support for public information efforts
  • Assist in managing responses to public records requests
  • Supervise and mentor Legislative Aide(s)
  • Develop and track performance metrics related to government relations and communications functions
  • Assist the Director in preparing budgets, reports, and presentations
  • Coordinate interdepartmental efforts to align government relations priorities with County goals

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Communications, or related field

Experience

5 years in legislative affairs, government relations, or public administration, with 2 years in a supervisory role
