Key Responsibilities

Define and maintain comprehensive data architecture framework driving organizational data strategy and establishing governance standards that ensure scalable, secure, and compliant data management across the entire electoral reform program
Lead cross-functional collaboration with business analysts, developers, and solution architects to translate complex business requirements into robust data solutions that support Australia's electoral transparency and accountability objectives
Design and document enterprise-level logical and physical data models that serve as the foundation for application components and shared services, ensuring consistency and reusability across multiple systems and environments

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience

Proven experience as a Data Architect on large-scale application development or transformation programs

Required Skills

Strong proficiency in data modelling (conceptual, logical, and physical) Deep expertise in cloud data platforms and services (e.g., Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, Synapse) Familiarity with data governance, master data management (MDM), metadata, and data lineage principles Knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, identity management, privacy considerations and data security practices Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a project environment Experience working in Agile project environments Effective communication skills for collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience with integration architectures, including REST APIs, message queues, and ETL/ELT patterns
