Key Responsibilities

Lead the strategic development and oversight of comprehensive emergency management programs across all four phases of emergency management, positioning Fort Worth as a national model for urban emergency preparedness
Ensure operational readiness across all city departments through coordinated planning and training initiatives that enhance the city's disaster response capabilities
Serve as the primary emergency management subject matter expert, providing strategic guidance to city leadership and representing Fort Worth's emergency management interests to regional and state partners
Direct Emergency Operations Center operations and readiness, maintaining 24/7 response capability and leading multi-agency coordination during critical incidents affecting over one million residents
Develop and maintain federal and state-compliant emergency operations plans and hazard mitigation programs that protect critical infrastructure and reduce community vulnerability
Design and implement community engagement and public education programs that build citywide resilience and enhance citizen preparedness

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in emergency planning, public administration, or a related field

Experience

Five (5) years of responsible emergency management or disaster response experience
